PLEASE NOTE - IF DESIRED EVENT IS WAITLISTED!
If your desired event is already waitlisted by the time you register, please go ahead and add yourself to the waitlist for that event. We are cautiously optimistic that we may be able to expand our capacity and move many competitors from the waitlist into events. Watch your email for notification of being cleared from a waitlist, or log back into your registration to check on the status of your registration. Our goal is to get as many competitors off the waitlist as possible.

This is a qualifying Stoa Speech & Debate Tournament. All competitors must be members of Stoa. Register at https://stoausa.org/events/membership-registration/

COST:
Debate: $55/event
Speech: $25/event

REFUND and DROP FEES

• Refunds will not be given for events dropped after registration closes on Monday, April 8th at 11:59pm PDT.
• Events dropped at the door during student check-in will be assessed a $25 fee per event (cash only).

Refunds

If you decide to drop an event PRIOR to 11:59pm on April 8th, 2024, we can offer you a full refund. After that, there can be no refunds in the event of a cancellation. The tournament needs to make important budgeting decisions based on the number of people who have registered and paid. For this reason, we do not offer refunds after registration closes.

Please contact Charis Baker at speakingwithvalor@gmail.com with any adds, drops or changes.

PAYMENT:
Registration is not complete until your fees have been paid. This can be done automatically at the end of the registration process - just click the "Pay" button and follow the prompts to use PayPal to pay your fees. A small surcharge will be added to cover PayPal fees.

ESSENTIAL DETAILS:

EACH registered family needs to have at least one parent judging for them every day of the tournament, and that parent needs to judge every other round/pattern. Students will need to have their judge physically with them at check-in and continue judging throughout the duration of the tournament.

Space is limited. We are requiring payment through PayPal at the time of registration. Please make sure that you fully complete your registration with a confirmation that you are paid or your registration may be deleted from the system.

Thank you for your assistance in keeping our tournament running on time. Please plan on judging every other round, and check with the ballot push table 45-30 minutes before each round to see what the judging needs are for the upcoming round. The Ballot Push Team will be happy to see you!

The judges' food may be limited to packaged snacks and salads. Coffee, water, and tea will be available in the judges' lounge all day.

Competitors must have a Parent Judge with them at all times throughout the tournament.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

Last year we were full and waitlisting students after just 20 minutes, so be sure to be online and register right away!

Registration is a simple Three-Step Process:
1. Click on the "Student Registration" link (at the top of this page) and fill out the required forms. You do need a Stoa affiliate number to register.
2. Pay fees through PayPal
3. Click on the "Judge Registration" link (also at the top) and fill out the required forms

Judging Requirement

  • Each speech and debate competitor is required to provide a judge for half the rounds they compete in. So for LD/TP and Parli competitors will need a judge to judge a minimum of 3 rounds per student. The same applies to each speech competitor within a family. Judges must be physically present at student check-in.
  • We welcome alumni and community judges, please direct any of your local friends to our Judge Registration tab to join us as a community judge!
  • We ask that every judge check in at the ballot push table before every round, regardless of which boxes you checked on the judge registration page.
  • Judge registration must be fully completed in order for registration to be complete.
